Joomla! 2.5.6 is now available

Joomla!® 2.5.6 is now available for download.

This release is the latest in the 2.5 series, and includes updates and fixes.

If you are still using Joomla! 1.5 you should have a look at all the new features that's available in 2.5

Official support for the 1.5 series is said to end later this year, and it would be a good idea to start making plans to upgrade to the latest Long Term Support version (2.5)

Those who are still on 1.6.x or 1.7.x are sJoomla-version-25trongly encouraged to Update to 2.5 without delay, since none the 1.6 and 1.7 series are no longer supported, and not secure.

Further new features, that many will appreciate, were also added since 2.5.5

Joomla! 2.5.0 Released

The Joomla!® Project today announced the release of Joomla! 2.5.0

Joomla 2.5.0This release brings news features and easy updates, and is the third in a new series of 6-month releases.

Joomla! 2.5 is a Long Term Support (LTS) release and will be supported for at least 18 months.

Joomla! 1.7.0 released

As promised by the Joomla! Production Leadership Team, Joomla!® 1.7.0 was released in July 2011 (6 months after the release of 1.6).Joomla 1.7

Both 1.6 and 1.7 are Short Term Support releases, and the next release will be a Long Term Support release.

For most people the upgrade from 1.6 to 1.7 will only one click, and most 1.6 Extensions should be compatible with 1.7

Joomla 1.5.x is a Long Term Support release, and will still be supported into 2012, but for new web sites, we will be using Joomla 1.7

Getting ready for Joomla! 2.5

Joomla!® 2.5 is set to be released on the 24th of January 2012.

This release will be a Long Term Support (LTS) release, and will be supported for at least 18 months.

Joomla! 2.5 Admin
In April 2012 Joomla! 1.5 will reach end of life (EOL), and thereafterr that edtition of Joomla! will no longer be supported. We therefore recommend that you start to plan migrating your 1.5.x web site to the latest version, namely Joomla! 2.5.

If you would like to try out the new version, you can download Joomla! 2.5 Beta. Please note that you should not use this Beta version on a production site!
